Florian Weiß, MA European Design

Born 1980 in Herne, Germany, Florian Weiß holds a Master of European Design with the focus on design management. He studied at the  Köln International School of Design and wrote his Bachelor-thesis in Milan, Italy, where he passed his first obligatory one-year stage at the  Politecnico di Milano in communication and product design.


His second stage was his Master-studies at the  University of Art and Design Helsinki, Finland, in the department of industrial and strategic design. He attended lectures on International Design Business Management in the  Helsinki University of Technologie in Espoo and the  University of Art and Design Helsinki, beside his design study.


Florian Weiß has been working as a junior consultant trainee at  PARK, a dutch design management consultancy, where he was strongly involved in projects with international clients. He finished his Master at the  Köln International School of Design in 2007 and continued to work as a full-time employee for the consultancy  PARK advanced design management. Beside this he supports projects as a design strategic counsel and design management researcher.

Full time employment at PARK advanced design management
After a creative break of one year (to write my master thesis), I am back to work for the consultancy  PARK advanced design management, again. In the meantime I have been working as design strategic counsel, i.e. for  Lothar Böhm and  Goodbrands.

 


The challenge of complexity in strategic design management - An autopoietic systemic approach to strategic design management decisions.
I recently finnished succesfully my third part of the master thesis.

 


The future of design in business alteration - How influential drivers will change the role of design in business.
I finished the work on my second research proposal, in a period of four weeks, about the future of design management in the discipline but also for specific design mangement tasks.


Platform leverage in service globalization - Bridging the gab from globalization of service to localization of need.
I finished the work on my first research proposal, the work of four weeks, about the globalization of service and how service platform can help to bridge the gap to local expectations.


Nokia-Leadership workshop in NewYork.
I was in New York with the SEDES|service design research center to run a session of the Nokia leadership workshop. We did some exercises with the Nokia employees around the globe to understand international service cultures.
